Sedgemoor Tourism Association
Trade Representatives working to encourage visitors to
Sedgemoor and Somerset and to promote quality value
for money and a sustainable tourism industry.
YOU ARE INVITED TO JOIN US!
The Sedgemoor Tourism Association was formed by members of the Tourism industry in Sedgemoor at the request of Sedgemoor District Council in 1986.
The district council recognising the importance of the growth of tourism at that time, felt that they needed a trade association to inform them of the needs of the industry.
May 2006 saw approximately 150 guests celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Association, where representatives of the County and District
councils joined members to review and celebrate the achievements of the Association.
So what are the benefits achieved by the S.T.A.
The main work undertaken by the Association has been promoting destination awareness - letting the public at large know:
a) of Somersets existence
b) where we are on the map, A vast proportion of the public's perception is that Devon and Cornwall
is the West Country.
c) also showing how much there is to see and do when arriving in our magical county
If Somerset is
THE JEWEL IN THE CROWN OF THE WEST COUNTRY
The Sedgemoor Tourism Association are its Exhibitors
The Sedgemoor Tourism Association has been very fortunate to have a hard working and dedicated committee
especially over the past ten years - and in order to continue to represent the industry needs to attract more members.
The Association is committed to supporting an all Somerset County Marketing Campaign, whilst also
helping to promote a new destination marketing organisation.
Our representation at District and County level helps to ensure that the industry gets its opinion heard
and results in a better understanding by the local authorities of our needs and aspirations.
Marketing and Promotion initiatives carried out over recent years include, distribution of information literature on holiday stands at Manchester,Cardiff, Birmingham, open top bus tours on the Cheddar Gorge Bus visiting cities and towns in the Midlands, Home Counties and South Wales
On average over the past 5 years members have spent at least 21 days per year out of the county promoting the destination Somerset, combining the tours etc. with local radio and press advertising.
So if you rely on tourism to support your businesses, the Sedgemoor Tourism Association
would be pleased to welcome you as a fellow member.
